I saw this Battery used in a build up of a dirt track racer featured in racing mag recently. Any thoughts about it from this group? I was thinking about running w/2 and using the Hellroaring Dual Battery setup (which I think is best available, bar none). Lemme know what you guys think. I can't find anyone who has used them, which is why I haven't pulled the trigger.

Chuck -- did you take a look at this one? I think it's hot - only weighs 13 lbs, which means you could run 2 and still cut your weight from 1 optima in half.

The red top Optima weaghs 39.9 lbs. The Total Power 1500 weaghs 30.25 so the weight savings is not that much but the TP was built for off road racing vibrations so I thought I would give it a try. although the optimas held up fine. The battery you ae looking at sounds good my only concern is that at 13 lbs they may have left out too much battery. But it may not be a lead/acid battery and my info is old technologe.

Ad says it's dry cell. You sell these guys HEI distributors and wires -- I assume if I buy their battery, I can get thru BC, right? I spoke with them, and they definitely think they're up to the task of Baja -- I was thinking I would put them in my truck and run them during all our "pre-running" between now and the 500 and see how they hold up.

Lighter is better if we are not losing to much. I will call them tomorrow.

Well, I talked to the guys at DUI for a while about the batterys. They have convinced me that the battery will work for desert racing as long as the alt provides enough power to run your ele. load. Lights, radio whatever. Mine is on the way. Thanks. Let me know if you want one and I will order it

Chuck -- I plan to run dual batteries -- epecially at this weight. I'm using the isolator setup from Hellroaring. Don't know if you've ever seen them, but I looked long and hard before I selected this setup for my '74. I think it's the finest on the market, and they are some GREAT people to deal with. If you haven't spoken with them, you should -- maybe you could carry their products.
